Activate CleanTalk within SpamTrawler

Unread postby eichcj » 19 Apr 2014, 22:34

I just added my website where I have been using SpamTrawler to my CleanTalk panel. It is still showing "Not Connected".
I know this integration with SpamTrawler is new but I cannot find any documentation on how to make CleanTalk work as an
API call from within SpamTrawler. My CMS doesn't have an add-on for CleanTalk however it has one for SpamTrawler.

Hi!

It's ok, you don't need an CleanTalk add-on to use the service, you can use CleanTalk API over SpamTrawler. Please follow this steps,

1. Fill the API key,
SpamTrawler Admin Console -> Settings -> CleanTalk API key.

2. Test the API with email "stop_email@example.com" at your web-sites, for example in signup form.

3. After 3-5 minutes the web-site status should switch to "Connected" at Control panel,

https://cleantalk.org/my

Is it ok?

My settings are set up correctly and my logs indicate that someone was successful logging in using stop_email@example.com using cleantalk as the username but I am still seeing the "Not connected" flag in my Cleantalk administration panel. The registration was completed using a clean IP address and was not blocked by the CleanTalk API. My CMS shows a successful registration as well as SpamTrawler shows the IP address used by the cleantalk user with email stop_email@example.com listed in the "unblocked visitors" section of the SpamTrawler interface.

I thought that we fixed the issue by updating the $string value problem in SpamTrawler's code but it seems that the Cleantalk test allowed a registration to proceed.

eichcj, the API didn't received any requests to test user "cleantalk", so thats why the status is "Not connected".

Let me some time to talk with Oliver.

Hi,

We have requested temporary access to the customers system in order to check the settings and any other issues that may prevent the API to be connected.

Once we have received access and completed trouble shooting we will update this forum thread.

Best Regards
Oliver
