Protecting email address outside of Plugin

Unread post by shawlw » 08 Feb 2019, 05:56

Hi,
A number of people are wanting the website contact email address published so that it is quick and easy to make contact.
This is fairly common to do, but opens up the spams.
One technique is to use PHP to hide the email with a setting like this:
echo do_shortcode('<a href="&#109;&#97;&#105;&#108;&#116;&#111;&#58;&#99;&#111;&#110;&#116;&#97;&#99;&#116;&#64;&#115;&#116;&#97;&#117;&#103;&#115;&#101;&#113;&#46;&#99;&#111;&#109;&#46;&#97;&#117;">&#99;&#111;&#110;&#116;&#97;&#99;&#116;&#64;&#115;&#116;&#97;&#117;&#103;&#115;&#101;&#113;&#46;&#99;&#111;&#109;&#46;&#97;&#117;</a>');

As a shortcode this hides the address. However, it still opens up to spammers who manually click on the link.
Is there any way that CleanTalk can be used to somehow intercept a click-on email address rather than filling out an entire Ninja or Contact 7 Form.

I have noticed that opening up the email address to this simple click on method has increased the number of valid emails we receive, so I think it is quite important to provide the standard form as well as this simpler methodology so that we capture more people.

I would love it if a "link" showing contact@mydomain.com.au could be directly hooked into CleanTalk before it opens Outlook Express.

Many Thanks,
Laurie Shaw

Hello.

Thank you for your feedback.

The plugin destination is to protect your site's forms. We can analyse any data that the user submits using these forms and make a decision to block him or not.

In case of the link you are talking about there is nothing to analyse, after click user will be referred to an external application without any data includes.

I suggest you do not show your email address but using a contact form to contact you.

Write back to us anytime.

Best regards,
